Griffith Park Observatory

Friday night we decided to go on a little adventure up to the Griffith Park Observatory. Not knowing exactly what to expect, we were amazed at how amazing this place is! Nestled up on a mountain overlooking L.A. and the near the infamous "Hollywood" sign, this observatory had a spectacular view (all the yucky smog actually makes for some beautiful colors at sunset!). Here are a few pics from our excursion. Of course, we had to take a picture of the Hollywood sign.
When I downloaded this picture I couldn't believe how big Crew looks! Holy cow is this really my little boy?
The observatory was totally free which was another bonus for the trip. Crew loved looking around and kept showing us stars. I think he knows what they are!
Matt and Crew
Crew telling us the telescope is "that way"
Ha! I think this picture is so funny! That is actually a model of the moon behind Crew but it looks kind of cool!
Anyway, we had a great night and totally loved the observatory. Two thumbs up!

Keeping up with Crew

Well, despite Crew coming down with a cold, we still managed to have a pretty good week. One highlight of the week was going to the L.A. Zoo! This is so much more exciting than Disneyland for Crew just ask him about it. It goes something like this:

Me: "Crew what are we going to see at the zoo today?"
Crew: "Um, um, um, BIG Tigers!"
Me: "Oh yeah, what else"
Crew: "Um, um, um a BIG bear!"
Me: "Oh my goodness! Are you so excited? Where are we going?"
Crew: "Zoo!"

It is really great because the zoo is about 15 minutes away and Crew really does love it. I'm sure it will be a frequent trip for us.

We also headed down to the beach again this weekend. No, that is not Crew with Mitch Buchanon, ha! Matt does feel like he is wasting away in grad school but I think he still looks good! This trip was to Santa Monica. It was a fantastic beach day full of sun, sand, buckets and shovels, but no baywatch celebrities!
And believe it or not, Crew does have some tan lines!

But the main reason for this post is to update you on just how funny my little buddy really is. He says pretty much everything now and is really getting good at comminicating. He is really into telling us what way to go with "dis sway" and "that way" and we must "watch" everything he does from jumping off who knows what to throwing a ball "high." If I had to say he was leaning towards playing a specific sport it would be a toss up between baseball, soccer and track since every hit is a "homerun", he loves kicking (interesting that he is a lefty kicker) and all the running and jumping. He is starting to get into football a little more now too since it is on TV ALL weekend! I am really just loving this age and all the funny little things I discover about my son daily.

One more conversation that I have to post. We were at the church waiting to go to a baptism today when Matt and Crew appeared back in the room after a short little absence. This is the conversation. I'm not sure if I should worry about all the umms yet, but I sure think they are funny and they really do add to his enthusiasm.

Me: "Hey buddy! Where did you go?"

Crew: "Um, outside"

Me: "Oh really, what did you see?"

Crew: "Um, um, Big truck!"

Me: "Oh wow! What kind of truck?"

Crew: "Um, blue truck"

Matt enters the room and says: "No, we've been in the cultural hall, he's making it all up"

Ha! What a funny kid. I like to think he just has a good imagination and made the cultural hall a much more exciting adventure!

Labor Day Fun

Wow! I feel like my life is still in somewhat of a vacation mode! Let me catch you up on some of our recent events. I had to include this picture because I think it is so funny! Crew and I went to watch Talli's dance recital a couple weeks ago. Isn't this such a boy's reaction to a dance recital! Ha! Actually, the recital was great, especially Talli! It was all of 15 minutes long and Crew was only crying in this picture because we were forcing him to take it!

To kick off Labor Day week we gave Crew his first hair cut! That's right, at 20 months it was finally time to trim off some of his lucious locks in the back and some off the top.
Crew had a very good first hair cut experience
He even tried to do some himself, carefully
For the actual Labor day, we went to the beach with a bunch of friends and had a great day! We were there from 10 to 4 and Crew loved every minute of it!

Something Crew is into lately is my headbands. I don't feel too bad because he wears them very manly! He will put one on and have it on for at least 30 minutes!
Tuesday night, Maren and her family came up and we went to a Dodger game that night. It was a blast and Crew really got into it!
Not a great picture but I am holding Parker so that makes it worth posting

The next day was Disneyland! Crew is still too young to feel all the happiness Disneyland has to offer but we still had a good time. Some of the favorites were the merry-go-round, Dumbo, Autotopia, and Casey Jr. Choo Choo.
Crew loved being with his cousins!
The next day Crew and I flew down to Az for my friend Laura's wedding. Crew is a great flyer because he loves airplanes! Of course, my parent's house is a dream come true with more trucks, tractors, choo choos and airplanes than a little boy should ever have!
We went to the temple one night to help with Laura's pictures. Crew was great and he really love the temple, just ask him!

Another wonderful thing about my parent's house is their pool! Crew loves anything that has to do with water and is really good in the pool. He loves jumping off the side and even jumped off the diving board a few times! We have to watch him like a hawk but he loves it!

Crew and "Ma ma"
This is at the reception Saturday night. If only I could get my kid to smile at the camera, we might finally have a family picture!

So, that was our week! I'm exhausted but we had a great time and are excited for this week!
