The Pumpkin Patch

Tuesday morning some of us drove out to a pumpkin patch out in Simi Valley. It was so beautiful out there! We had a great day but of course my camera batteries died after being there only ten minutes! That may be a good thing or this post could have been monstrously long with all the great pictures I could have taken. But thanks to Jamie and Lindsay for sharing and helping catch on film this fantastic day! Here are a few of my favorites.

All the kids: Finnley, Kate, Crew, Talli, Zoie and Drew
The whole gang. Thanks ladies for a fun day!
And then... Matt is doing an internship right now at a pediatric physical therapy place. Today was their big Halloween bash so Crew and I got to come and play for a little bit. Can you guess who Matt is?

Super Mario and Buzz were both big hits. I know, I am boring. Blame it on the belly. It was a fun afternoon though!

To Infinity and Beyond!

Crew has been getting some good use out of his costume already. He frequently wears it around the house and thanks to his aunt Maren, he even has the Buzz Lightyear gun (that doesn't get old!).
He is a pretty cute Buzz though
Last Saturday we met up with our buddies the Andrews for a little Halloween festival at an elementary school. Another wonderful opportunity to sport the Buzz costume.

Crew and Emmy showing off their stuff
The festival was really fun. Crew loved the "Big Slide" and playing with Emmy

He and I also won a prize with the golf game (I was pretty proud of myself!)
Then, to continue in our Halloween mood, we carved a pumpkin for home evening tonight.

Crew was a very good carver
The finished product! He really did help a lot so he was very pleased with himself.

Stay tuned for more festivities to come!

Go Cougars!

Last Saturday we drove down to San Diego for the BYU vs. SDSU game. We drove down early to pick my parents up at the airport and walked around the harbor for bit while we waited for their flight to land. I love it down there! Crew loved it too. All the boats and the big air craft carrier. So much to see! (BTW- we had to give Crew a hair cut because it was getting a little out of control. I miss those blond locks but they will be back soon I'm sure). After we picked grandma and grandpa up at the airport we met up with Maren and Cam at the zoo. All the walking around the zoo called for a little rest. This was the scene all day. Crew on one side and Carson on the other of Grandpa. Grandma got her share of the action too. It was pretty cute.
The boys. Parker is so close to being able to keep up with these bigger boys!
After the zoo we grabbed some lunch and headed to the game. A bunch of our friend from South Pas came down for the game too. It was fun to all cheer on the cougs together!
This was actually our first game that we have been to since Matt played! It was kind of fun to watch a game together, although Matt did score a field pass and was down by the team where he belonged for a lot of the first half of the game. BYU didn't play amazing but it was fun to be there with family and friends.
The highlights of the game for Crew were definitely tackling, Cosmo, and playing with Carson.
It was a fun weekend but we are very excited to have things slow down for a little bit! We are staying close to home for a few weeks at least!

San Diego - Allen Style

Matt's family usually does a family vacation in San Diego every summer. For some reason this year got to crazy so we all met up for the first week of October down in Encinitas. It was so fun to be with his entire family. It was a little hard because Matt couldn't be there for most the week and two of our nephews, Gunner and Baylor, had to leave early. But we still had a great time. We drove down the Friday before and stayed with Maren so we could sneak in an extra day with Matt's siblings. Friday afternoon was kind of rainy and cool but we still met up for a little while at the beach with Michael and Jeni's families.

It wasn't exactly the best beach weather but a gorgeous sky of clouds!
Racing on the beach
Totally love this picture

Sunday afternoon some of us went to a park near Miramar to watch for the Blue Angels who were flying in a near by air show. It was great to get out (love General Conference but it gets to be a bit long with kids)! Maren's fam met up with us there and we had a great afternoon with the Angels.
My boy

Poor Sarah! It was pretty windy and the wind was really chilly! We couldn't put enough layers on her!
A game of Bocce Ball while we wait
Finally the jets! They move way too fast to get a clear shot but they were so much fun to watch!
Hearing these jets is one of the best sounds to me. I think it is because of our memories watching them practice in the skies over my grandpa's ranch all growing up, but I seriously love the Blue Angels and the feeling of excitement I get both physically and emotionally when I watch them.
Maren and Cam with their monster boy (I mean that in an endearing kind of way. He is hilarious but he is their little monster).

More races on the beach
Buried in the sand
Thursday was Matt's sister Jeni's birthday so what did we do? Disneyland of course! It was a little crazy busy but so much fun. Disneyland is so awesome all decorated for Halloween and the firework show was spectacular! We were there all day (Matt met us there in the afternoon after classes) and left totally exhausted. Here are a few pics of the day.

Crew trying to get in touch with his inner hippie. He hasn't quite figured out the peace sign.
Crew and Remy had a great time together all week
Crew loves all his cousins, however, he and Samantha (who is 4 months older) have a little harder time getting along. She knows her power over him and that he is a total wuss. Crew lives up to his wimpiness and freaks out over everything she does to him. It is not a good thing. Yet, there are moments when the two of them actually get along and it is so nice! I had to get the proof on film. In general, this was a really good day for their relationship.
More proof they don't always fight!
Before we left on Saturday we visited one of our favorite spots, La Jolla Cove. It was such a beautiful day and a great way to end a fun week.

Thank you Allens for a fantastic week! Crew will take at least a week to recover but we love you and miss you!
